*Not to be confused with Michael Pedersen, who stabbed his children to death in 2012 and came up first in the Google search, which was quite alarming.
Check out Michael Pederson's work HERE - do it, it's really great
I came across the work of Michael Pederson on Tumblr (where I seem to come across most of my inspiration tbh) and I fell in love. I mean, look at this. Look. This really stopped me in my tracks. How beautiful is the idea of treating mundane and urban things that are probably considered ugly as pieces of work in a museum? How nice is the thought of giving a story to something forgotten or discarded? I want to do it. I want to do this.
Michael Pederson plays with Sydney's urban environment, putting plaques, signs, and notices all over the city. From my perception his more recent works are an attempt to interrupt the mundane everyday and inject it with a little bit of humour and whimsy.
While the installation of some of his early text works are the same, the subject matter seems more melancholy to me. While still amazing and beautiful, they make me a little bit more sad. Not in a bad way though, I still really like them.
Please look at all these things and all his other things at miguelmarquezoutside.com, I am super jealous I didn't think of these ideas first.
